New Year's Eve, Lobster Updates, and More From Kingfisher

Happy December to all of you out there!

This week, we have some good news and some less good news, but we always start with the good news first. Let's talk about New Year's Eve here at Kingfisher! We will be open for New Year's Eve lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with our full lunch menu, delightful seafood specials yet to be determined, and festive dessert specials, for those of you who might be more inclined to avoid the evening crowds and inevitable chaos. We'll then be closing our doors briefly from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to set up for dinner. I recommend making your reservations early, either call us at 520.323.7739 or book online.

We have slightly extended hours for New Year's Eve dinner, so we'll be open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (instead of our usual weekday 9:00 p.m.), and we will have the vast majority of our regular menu, minus burgers and fried items (fish & chips, all manner of fries/chips/shoestrings, fried shrimp, fried oysters, you get the idea), as is our usual tradition for New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. We will also be featuring some delicious a la carte fish & seafood specials, to be determined as we near the evening and see what lovely fresh fish we can get in.

Of course, December also brings along what we've taken to calling "BUBBLES SEASON!" around here, so we have our seasonal specials on two very delicious bubbles (by the bottle only), with some seriously steep discounts on them through New Year's Eve, while supplies last:

First up, our 2021 Private Property Brut Rose from Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County, normally $75 per bottle is just $50.

Second, but certainly just as delicious, the Lelarge-Pugeot Champagne Tradition from France, normally $130 per bottle, discounted to $110. Perfect for celebrating, girl-dinnering, day drinking, or just enjoying some truly lovely wine... whatever the occasion may be.

Now, the less good news. Unfortunately, due to supply issues, environmental circumstances, market conditions, and generally just a bunch of things beyond our control, we're removing the lobster roll from the menu until further notice. The lobster in the Seafood Newburg will now be replaced by deep sea red crab. Our deepest apologies, we tried to figure out a good way around it while keeping prices reasonable, but in the end the consensus was that we'll keep an eye on conditions and re-evaluate for our spring menu in March/April. Please feel free to email me directly at jacki@kingfishertucson.com, or if I'm here, snag me if you have questions.

Back to positivity, speaking of lobster, we always have the option to order you whole live lobsters, steamed to order, we just need about 72 hours notice to ensure we can get them in for you and to verify market pricing. We'll steam them to order and pair them with whatever sides you'd like, along with a whole lot of drawn butter, because that's how it should be. Just give me a call or send me an email directly to arrange.

As a reminder, we have limited hours for Christmas Eve, lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., then closing from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for setup, then open for dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We have plenty of lunch availability, but dinner is nearly sold out, and bar requests are beyond full, so we'll do our best to accommodate. We're featuring some lovely fish & seafood specials, as well as a prime rib dinner-only special.

That's probably plenty for now.

Thanks for continuing to patronize local businesses, we appreciate you.

With gratitude,

Jacki & The Kingfisher Crew
